Common Loon (gavia immer) Photos

Hello everyone,

I'm wildlife photographer Michael Collins. This summer, I ventured into the ponds of western Maine, and found two pairs of Loons. I took out a kayak, and after three days of gaining their trust, was finally able to begin getting photos of them. It was well worth the wait, as the low angle and close range enabled me to capture some intimate, truly one-of-a-kind shots.

You can view the rest of the shots, and larger versions of the ones here on my website, Loon Echo Photography. If you are so inclined, they can be purchased there as well (they are priced low because this is my first time selling online, and I'm trying to get things rolling).

Loons are truly awesome birds - perhaps my favorite, having spent so much time with them. To hear their calls resonate, to watch them swim underwater, to watch them teach their young how to fish..... is a great experience.

What do you think?

Regards,

Mike

Beautiful photos Mike. I love the call of the loon. They're wonderful creatures.
