Easter visitors...very Image Heavy.......

Since Mother Nature decided to give us a wintry blast this past week backyard activity at the feeders picked up considerably. And since it was too confounded cold to let the grandchildren have an egg hunt in the backyard I decided to make this a day to record any and all bird (or other animal) sightings strictly in the back feeder area. It started out sunny and bright but got very cloudy as the day progressed. Some of the photos turned out fair while others leave much to be desired. I didn't get a photo of some of the usual visitors, like the House Sparrows or the Brown-headed Cowbirds, but there were a few of them today also. I missed a shot of the male Cardinal, but did get one of the female. I did get a shot of the resident Robin actually feeding on the suet....a first for me...I had heard they would eat suet, just never saw it before today. The Dogwood tree is beautiful and seems to be faring nicely in the 20 degree weather. Anyhoo....here are some of the nice little creatures that visited today...we even got a visit from the Easter bunny.......thanks for looking in........

Thanks Jim.....since it was so darned cold and we had no specific plans except to entertain the grandkids it was a perfect opportunity to sit on my keester and look at the birds. We do get a pretty good mix of backyard birds...and this was really quite fun. I had never taken an entire day to record all the different backyard birds and I was really impressed with the variety...some times the very things we see each day are not noticed because of the familiarity...but, I did enjoy this and plan to do it again. Its nice when my husband and I can get some time off work and travel to Audubon Park, or the wildlife refuge to take a look at the birds...but, sometimes its amazing what you can see in your own backyard....thanks again Jim...
