Bird House Broke while Occupied :(

My dad just called me in a panic. his birdhouse fell from a tree & broke into several pieces. he was able to scoop up babies & put them into our (empty) birdbath. Do we have time to hang a new house? Will they live in it if we put it in the same place as the old one? How does he get babies into new house w/o hurting them? that hole is very small :( Any help is much appreciated. dad is 75 and doesnt like to hurt lil baby birds...
