red wing blackbirds

I don't know if it is unusual but this is the first year I have seen red wings in Mich. in Oct. Usually they are gone in
August.

The Cornell site says they winter from southern Canada southward. Although the map shows Michigan as summer, I'm guessing there are micro-climates that accommodate the bird. Just a guess. I myself was surprised to see a bluebird here last week.
