Here's a picture of the finch feeders I setup. Apparently, there are a heck of a lot of Gold finches in my area.

And they're a lot happier now that they've found your feeders!

They wait in line at my feeder also (upstate NY). I noticed in the sub feezing temps, that there were a lot more than now when it's in the 40's (heat wave).

When I first saw gold finches at my feeder, I didn't know what they were. I was told that they were finches in their winter plumage. I didn't realize that birds could change their plumage. Neat picture. Marg

I am from East Tn. Noticing the Male Goldfinches seem to be getting more color, or maybe I am wishing for SPRING. Love the birds in my yard. Patricia

Man these guys are foul weather friends. They disappear after the weather got better, but I notice they're showing up again now that it's snowing.

Hey Paulsiu, that's what I always call "my" birds, "Foul weather friends". When the weather is really lousy, everyone shows up. When the weather is warm, only a few.

I had to take down the sock feeder. I notice that someone keeps putting holes in them. I am guessing that it's a squirrel try the food and then realizing that it hates nyjer seeds. So far that's my fourth sock that got chew through, so I am not going to use socks any more.

The temperature has dropped again and now there's mega-number of gold finches again. They are numerous enough that they are now eating from the sunflower feeder, too.

I have what I thought were gold finches at the thistle feeder as they feed with the house sparrows & red finches. They are smaller then the red finches or the sparrows & there are two colorations: one is dull olive yellow back (?female) & the other is also small but has a very black back & top of the head & bright yellow on the breast ... the male? Are these gold finches?
