dklucius,

My beloved Juncos have all left me. They used to appear a dozen at a time in the morning right before dawn, now I only see one or two at most in the middle of the day.

i think it's the wet snowy days that are keeping them here. they usually move back up into the mountains in march but the mountains are way over normal with snow depth
and it's been colder than normal between storms too. about 2 foot of snow in the fields next to me on the ground with just a few bare spots under some trees.

I've only got a few juncos left here too. We have no snow cover and I wonder how long those will stay. Maybe last night's rainy nor'easter will be the last straw.

Yes, I think the Junco only stay here until the weather clears, then then go up North again to head to the breeding grounds. In fact, I am told that males stay further up north than the female in the winter so they can get back earlier.
