Not the most handsome boy on the block, but he is needed

This fellow looks like he was leading the band, when he was actually drying his feathers. There were eight on a tree in the woods behind our house, approx. 300' away, and several were in this position. We do need to invest in a more powerful lens, but until then, I thought this was a very neat pose.

| Turkey Vultures in the US mostly don't migrate so I was surprised to be reminded that Canada has to wait to see them |

| I love the turkey vultures. We usually see lots of them, but last year we didn't see any at all. I sure hope they show up this year. Have you ever seen pictures of the nestlings? They are really interesting looking, and quite cute in their fuzzy white down. |

Your Turkey Vulture looks almost majestic in his pose. Last year I saw a Turkey Vulture land on the neighbor's bird feeder
then fly up to a chimney, not very gracefully.
Mostly though, I see them high up soaring around and watching and watching and watching ..... Claire (who lives near the town of Buzzards Bay) |
