I live in SE Michigan- I have only seen a oriole in my yard twice in the past 5 years. Both times in spring. Today I saw one on one of my hummingbird feeders.----I quickly put up my oriole feeder.-----------Questions----Is this a local or are they all ready starting to move? What are the chances of him/her hanging around for a while?---thanks---ED

i assume that yours are baltimore Orioles? due mostly by location. I live in Southwest Colorado and have nesting pairs of Bullocks Orioles here every year from early spring thru as late as late august. they show up from april thru early may and nest soon after. and by mid June to late june bring their young to my feeders. By late july or early august the males start leaving first and then the females from early august to late august The juveniles also leave about the same times as the females. I had over a dozen different birds this year and now have none for last week. so far the return again the following spring.

We are in central WI and have Orioles all Summer long. We feed them grape jelly. I do expect them to be leaving any time now though so yours probably won't be staying around too long either. But as of this morning they are still coming to the jelly dishes. We have had as many as eight fledglings on the deck at one time. They are such pretty birds. Donna
