Breaking the back of Summer

Hi all,

Our Bluebirds fledged their fourth and final nest of the season yesterday, and the awful hot humid weather has yielded at last. We had a great summer here (tho hot), but we're not sad to see the milder temps now. Hopefully we'll still see some new Goldfinch fledglings and maybe some baby Mockingbirds yet, but right now there's a lot of moutling going on and we're glad to anticipate the Fall.

Here are a few recent shots of our backyard regulars this past week...

Goldfinch male:

Cardinal female:

House Finch male:

Tufted Titmouse:

Cardinal male:

RT Hummingbird juvenile:

Goldfinch female:

White-breasted Nuthatch:

Blue Jay fledgling:

And one of our 19 Bluebird fledglings of the season:

We hope you enjoy these,

Kenn

What lovely photos! The photo of the young bluebird is especially charming.

I'm glad bluebird babies are being fledged somewhere successfully - the HOSPs took over our birdhouse and I had to plug it up. A sad ending to generations of families of Eastern bluebirds.
