Blues at suet feeder

On days I have to work, I am only able to fill up the Bluebird's own feeder with mealworms and suet crumbles before and after work. They always run out before I get home, and rely on the suet cages I provide for the other birds. Today when I got home, there was a group of them all feeding at the same time. The white spot on the female's face is because it was snowing. It is merely an unfocused snowflake in the foreground.

Kendra,
What a great shot! Is that a sixth bluebird on the back, right side? I get excited when I see 3 blues @ the feeder or bath @ the same time!

Yes Mac, there were six of them going at the suet that day. I have a flock of 10 here this winter. It would be really cool to be able to capture all 10 of them at once. This picture makes it easier to count the six. I don't know why this image is showing up so small, but if you click on it a larger one will come up.

10!!! Wow! I have 3 (2 males, 1 female) that are here all the time. On 1 occasion this winter, I saw 6 blues @ the birdbath @ one time. I have often wondered why I do not see more around. I'm hoping all the babies that flew from my nestboxes are safe somewhere. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Mac, you are lucky to get them to nest at your place. Every spring for the past 3 years I have had Blues build a nest in one or two of my nestboxes. Then a House Sparrow shows up and they abandon them. Then I don't see the Blues again until winter. I have even tried winter trapping for the HOSP. I have had one lone male HOSP that shows up from time to time this winter. I'm going to try pairing boxes this spring and see if the HOSP will claim a different one than the Blues. Maybe that will keep him busy (until I can trap him) so he doesn't scare off the Bluebirds.
