A few random shots

Most of these were taken yesterday

A few more in-flight shots

And finally, here's what can happen when you perch on the lower branch.
Ever had one of those days?

Oh my, did that poop picture ever make me laugh. Yup, I've had that happen to me and I wasn't even perched on a low branch! I was out walking my dogs when all of a sudden, plop, right on my head. I was about a mile from home and had to finish my walk with bird poop in my hair. I love your pictures Dave. They are just amazing.

Awesome as ever, Dave. It's fun to see the comical side of our blues now and again. One of my females was peeking over the roof and under the portico after school today. I'm thinking I wasn't getting to the mealworm feeder fast enough for her and she was hunting me down! I guess it wasn't enough that I had to traipse through several inches of slushy snow, slipping and sliding, just to get to the durn thing!

I know what you mean, Kathy.

During this recent snow the blues have really been waiting for their meal worms, especially in the morning. One even flutters just outside the storm door when he sees me standing there. One morning he actually landed on the door handle, not two feet from me. Of course, when I moved back to get his picture, he flew.

But my adult female perches on a little overhang, just outside the door and every morning she definitely peeks in at me. I will try to find a picture of her doing it.

OK, here is one.

Too, too cute! During the week following the blizzard our county was having trouble clearing sidewalks, etc., and thus we used many snowdays. My principal made it to school as did several teachers who planned to work in their classrooms. My boss e-mailed me to say she knew our school was prime bluebird habitat, that we provided great housing and food occasionally. What she didn't know, she wrote, was that I was allowing the blues access to the school building itself. Apparently one of the teachers encountered a male bluebird in a hallway and several people had to help him find his way back outside. I told my boss that things would be fine as long as he didn't figure out how to open the fridge to get his own mealworms and suet!!!! It did make me worry a bit about how he got in . . . I certainly don't want him to get trapped without food and water, but others suspect he came in through a door that was propped open during a delivery. Too funny. The whole staff now jokes about how I allow the blues the run of the building and that they hold parties on the weekends! Honestly, I wouldn't doubt the party idea.

Hi Renee

Nice to hear from you and thanks for the compliments. Hope you are doing well.

Every year I look forward to Winter so I can try for better pictures of the blues in the snow. Well, this year we have had four significant snowfalls, which is a lot of this part of the Country and too much for me. I got about 3,000 pictures of them in the snow and now I am more than ready for Spring.

I suspect that sentiment is shared by most on the forum.

Hello Dave!
I am new to this place, and I want to tell you that these are some of the most astonishingly gorgeous BB pics I have ever laid my eyes on. Eye candy for me, for sure. I do adore my blues, and I am looking forward to reading about everyone else's. (I do see some familiar folks here already) ~~Angie
