OT: pic for tattoo

Hello,

Please indulge me---I really want a tattoo of a bluebird! I want it to be something graceful-looking; more than just a bluebird sitting there. Bird in flight? Any suggestions? Has anyone done this? Any photos I can use for ideas?

Thanks,

Ann

What a great idea! If you google bluebird images you should come up with a lot of ideas.

I always wanted to get a bluebird hood ornament for my car. Have you ever seen on of those? :-)

Good idea---I found some nice photos via Google, but honestly they don't compare to some I've seen on this site!

Bluebird hood ornament? I want one too! But what could be full color and not breakable? Painted metal?

I've also have found a website for a bluebird tattoo from Google.

Here is a link that might be useful: blue bird tatoo

Thank you Gardenlover...I found that one recently---once I searched for bluebird tattoo instead of bluebird photos! Actually, now I'm worried this is sort of a good luck cliche. Though a bluebird tattoo for the bluebird caregiver---not so much of a cliche.

Now I just have to pick a pic and a location!! : )

Hi Gibby,

I like the painting too, but the photos blew me away---these links were from Bet Zimmerman (Sialis.) I actually haven't done it yet, but it'll definitely be one of these!
http://www.pbase.com/uncledave (one of the in-flight ones) These are nice too: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v283/MrSimple/Wendell Long Photos/?start=all

Let me know if you do it!!

I already have one (a rose) and don't think I'll get anymore. But never say never!!! they are so pretty!!!

Ann, one of the sites that Bet provides a link to (uncle dave) is my PBase site. I only keep it up because she has those links to it and its a bit out of date. I rarely visit it myself anymore.

You might want to check out my new site on SmugMug. It's been up for a year or so and a lot of my more recent stuff is there. Not organized as well as it might be, but it's there, nonetheless. In particular, check out the gallery called "Eastern Bluebirds in flight," as well as the three Male Bluebird galleries.

Here is one of my personal favorites. Don't know what kind of tatoo it would make.

Wow Dave...nice to meet you! AS IF I wasn't having enough trouble picking just one---thanks for the new web site! Back to square one!

When I finally decide and act on this, I'll take a picture!

Thanks so much for helping and for taking all of your GORGEOUS pics!!!

This one will be hard to beat...(sorry, I don't know how to link these properly.)
Also very fond of http://www.pbase.com/uncledave/image/60893886 and http://www.pbase.com/uncledave/image/74408187.

Here are all three together so you and anyone else who is interested can see.

RE: OT: pic for tattoo

Thanks Dave! But I only see 2 here... A friend suggested the last one above (almost 90 degree angle of wings) on my shoulder so that when I move my arms it looks like the wings are flapping! It would be fun, but I don't think that would be my first one. I want more BLUE! Extraordinary pic, though.

I only saw two also, so I went to PBase to link the other one but when I came back and opened this thread again, all three were showing. Here's the third one, just in case it is a continuing problem.

Ann, I have a tattoo of my pet lovebird. I took a photo to the artist so that it would look like my bird, not a cartoon. I definitely like the idea of using photos of real bluebirds (like Dave's) but you'll need a good portrait artist, IMHO, to copy that. The artist who did my lovebird wasn't the greatest.

I have a second tattoo (btw, I'm old and neither of my tat's can be seen unless *I* show them, LOL) of my dogs face and it looks identical to the photo I gave the artist. $400 and worth every penny for the work he did. He was recommended to me by several people as being one of the best "portrait" artist in Atlanta and it took 5 months to get an appt. with him.

Good luck on your tat and if you get it, I hope you'll post a photo! :-)

Dave in VA, the wingspan on the first of those 3 pictures is gorgeous! What a nice picture.

RE: OT: pic for tattoo

Some of the pix on the tattoo link are actually swallows (not bluebirds) - notice tail feathers

OK, so it's been a long and poor year, but I have cash set aside and I'm ready to go on this. I need to make some decisions! The only thing I'm sure of is I want a male bluebird in motion. I have a tattoo artist picked out who's extremely talented; I have seen his photographic-quality work and he's worth his high price. But I need to take in a photo and reserve a time. It's been awhile and I'm hoping you guys will help me choose a photo!! I need moral support and no one else understands me.... : )
