got rid of my mealworms the other day

I called a local pet store and they took them off my hands. They were already starting the next cycle with pupae and beetles. I did keep a few to try another batch for next year, about the time I don't, then maybe I'd get some birds. what a disapointment, and what an experience raising those worms, I must have had a couple thousand anyway.

I'm sorry Gibby....that's really sad. I'm furious because one female sparrow discovered my mealworms and she's feeding them to her babies! Nothing is every smoothe..... Ann

Sorry to hear that Gibby. I find I can't produce enough mealworms to keep everyone fed. I'm working to build up my supply by saving bins to grow out into more beetles. Since I had to feed ten Bluebirds last winter, and it cost me a fortune to have to keep ordering them, I'm trying to raise a lot before winter. Plus right now I'm still feeding my resident Bluebird pair that are on their 3rd nesting, and also I'm feeding Carolina Wrens that have nested on my porch. I figure even if I get bucketloads of mealworms and the Bluebirds don't show up this winter, I can feed the mealworms to my Guinea Fowl, so nothing will go to waste.

I should have sent mine to you Kendra. You helped me from the beginning. I would have had no clue how to mail them though. I kept a few to start again later, maybe November, just incase I would get some birds in the spring, my luck would be to not save any and then I'd have BB's. It sure was an experience.
