| Hello all. Glad to be here. I have been told that bluebirds like to build a new nest for each hatch. Is that correct? |

Hello Maxwell! Glad to have you! Yes you are correct. If you are new to Blue Birding (even if your not) there is a great sight packed full of Blue Bird info www.sialis.org
It also covers other cavity nesting birds. I have had Blues, Chicadees and Tree Swallows all nesting at the same time! This forum is a little slow right now but theres usually someone checking in daily. I'ts hoppin in the spring! |

| Hello. Would also like to give you a heads up Maxwell. The Bluebird Nut Cafe (Google It) is another great forum with helpful and friendly members. It's usually more active than this forum. As Lisa said, things have slowed down. Bluebird forums (this one especially) will be dormant during the off season. (Which is usually August/September through February. I usually find that posts in the winter end up a month to a few months old. For some reason the forums seemed more dead than ever this year.

Things have been a bit slow this year, Tom. If others are like me, they've been spending a lot of their time out monitoring their trails. I still have one active nest which should fledge in another week or so and I have to say that I'M TIRED!!!! Twice-weekly monitoring visits have finally taken their toll and I'm ready for the off-season! Once this final brood fledges I'm going to take a week or two and just chill before I begin conditioning boxes for the winter.
Welcome, Max. This is a wonderful place to visit and there are many seasoned bluebirders, many of whom belong to both this site and the Bluebird Nut Cafe site, who will help you on your journey to become a more educated bluebird landlord. Lisa was absolutely right about the sialis.org site, though--there is a wealth of information to be had there and it is an excellent resource.
