| Hi, its been awhile since I've been on here but I have a question this is my second yr. bluebirding my blues had 2 nestings this yr. the last on fledged on July 10th but I haven't seen my blue family in 2 wks now. I live across the river from St. Louis Mo and the last couple of weeks our temps with humidity have been exceeding 100 plus, so I'm wondering if the heat would have them leave. Last yr. my blues had 3 nestings and my last group of babies fledged in Aug of 09...and they stayed with us until November. If anyone has some thoughts on this or if they've experienced their blues leaving early please let me know. Thanks |

It's normal for them to leave for a while, Deedee, especially after their final nesting. Often they will bring the young back after a few weeks. There are many possibilities as to why you didn't have a 3rd nesting and one of them could certainly be the heat. Hope your blues have returned to visit by now. Wish they understood how much we worry. Kathy |

| After having two successful nesting's, I have not seen a Blue Bird since we got back from Vacation (13th August). So actually before the end of July. I usually see them "around" but I have not even seen that. I have to think the excessive heat we had this summer has something to do with it. That and we can't keep suet around due to our friendly neighborhood Raccoons. I am actually kind of concerned about this. |
