Check box's well into July

Hello everyone.
In the spring I had lost 3 females and never went back to check the
box's i was so mad. I figured it was one of the barn cats. Wrong looked into
three of the box's And nice full grown chicks. The males found mates and
nested these sites have been used for 20 years. Besides the two with chicks
also found four other pairs in box's i had given up on I gained a total of
six new pairs in July. Which brings my total pairs to 27. Always make sure to check and clean nest box's well into July you will be shocked at what you find
I get many pairs in the month of july months after people have given up if they
only knew bluebirds produce eggs in the northern states up till Aug 1 is the cut off. Please continue to check box's till Aug 1. Many of the males stayed with
there prime locations and box's for weeks and drove off the swallows and the prize was nice young females that had the most prime locations. Was worth
while for the males to stay put and just sing daily. I am a very happy landlord.

RE: Check box's well into July

Hi Ray,
To keep checking the boxes is a good idea. My Bluebirds built another nest around the 26th of July. I checked the nest daily for a while and had just about given up on it, thinking she wouldn't lay this late in the season. But the female started laying on August 1st. This is her third clutch this season, which was sure a surprise to me. I only have a single pair. For you to have 27 must mean you have to cover an awfully large area.

Hi Kendra
My passion in life saving Native birds Bluebirds,Martins, chickadee, tree swallows
have recorded over 3,000 bluebirds fledged in RI since 1990. Martin Landlord
since 1994. Manage 50 bluebird box's and many sites have been used numerous
times in 21 years. All in one community. I average 40 pairs but the cold weather in the southern states killed many of the northern birds that winter there. We were left with many of the local birds that stayed here over winter.
Another migration happen late this spring to replace these older birder that
would have other wise used these sites.
Ray
