A few from this morning

I have about 15 that come to the yard every day (the two adults and 10 of their offspring from this past summer, plus two or three outsiders who keep trying to get a few meal worms). They usually show up in groups of five or six. Lots of photo ops while they wait to get into the cage. The sun is bright today and I have already taken lots of pics. These are typical. (The last one was taken yesterday).

Thank you DeeDee and Mac for taking the time to comment.

Mac, I still take pictures by the hundreds each day and don't mind sharing them but when nearly a week goes by without a single response, it makes you wonder if anyone is hanging out here anymore.

I remember the days a few years ago when things really jumped on this forum, even during the off season. The responses came so quickly, it was almost like instant messaging.

Here is an update on the first picture in this set. Cold weather has arrived and very few leaves are left on the pear tree.

Speaking for myself, Dave, I was too in-awe of your captures to even think of commenting. Incredible, as always. Each and every time I look at these I am at a loss for words--not an easy thing to accomplish with me. Did you get any of yesterday's snow? I'm near Harper's Ferry, WVA (on the Maryland side of the Potomac) and we got about 3 inches. What a beautifully peaceful snow it was. Early for us.
Please never stop posting photos of your blues. They are breathtaking!

Hi Everyone.

Yes we did get the snow yesterday, about the same amount as you got, and I did try to take some pictures but it was so dark my cameras would not hold focus and I could only get decent pictures if they were within 10 feet from me. Here are some from yesterday, followed by a few from this morning. The sun was out and bright today so today's are crisp but now the snow is melted on all their favorite perches. As you said, it is early for snow around here. I will hope for better next time.

As you know, it started as rain.

The snow blew hard from the north and except when they were looking at me, the birds stared straight into it.

This one looks like he was hit with a snowball.

OK I'm sure you get the picture. (Pardon the pun.) Here are a few from today. Nothing special. They are just sitting there, probably waiting for meal worms.

I don't normally show pictures that have the feeder cage visable in them but this guy looked so regal...

I love these, Dave, and am always sure to share your photos with my bluebird club students. Neither male nor female looks thrilled to have been snow-balled! Gorgeous captures. Wonder what tonight's weather will bring. It started snowing here about an hour ago with big, beautiful white flakes. The precip is mixed now and I'm trying to decide if I should go to bed on time or take a chance on having a snow day tomorrow by staying up late. We'll see.

Hello Dave,
Thanks for posting additional pictures. They all made me smile, and a few actually caused me to laugh out loud (the "snowball" ones.) I do have to disagree with you though regarding your statement of "nothing special". To me, all of your photos are just beautiful. I am always in awe of what you can capture. The detail, coloring, sharpness, all just amazing. I am trying to learn how to take better pictures with my new camera (in my spare time, which I don't seem to have). Thank you again for sharing your talents and your blues!

Wow......What beautiful pictures you have taken. You should submit these to National Geographic or somewhere and get paid for these. Awesome! Thank you for sharing these. Suzanne

As usual I cannot choose a favorite - but I love the little "fluffed up" ones with the snow .. the snow ball fight is so cute :) I have taken my lap top from room to room showing these to my family..... I hope you know how very much we enjoy your talent. Thank you for sharing with us. I could look at them for hours - other photos compared to yours are like regular TV versus Blu Ray! Cindy

Thank you all for your kind words. It is always nice to hear that someone enjoys the pictures.

Here is a male in the wind and snow we had a couple of days ago. We are still digging out.

And here is a picture of a female taken this morning. I love it when they land on the tip of the tree and it bends over with them.

Here are two shots from this morning showing Papa coming in to land on a post and a young female getting out of his way.

Incredible, as always, Dave. Your female is so beautiful. We ended up with a shade over 21" of snow on Saturday and school's in our county have now used 3 snow days! I have mixed feelings about that because the days off are nice (I work in the school system) but I sure was looking forward to summer vacation starting the first week of June!
Thanks for sharing these latest captures.
