Six more Weeks O' winter? or Spring?

| Yes, campers, it's that time of year again. Do we dust off the ol' sleeping bag? Start making preparations to head out to our favorite destinations? Or, do we grin and bear it for another six weeks of freezing winter?
It all rests on that furry critter, "PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL"
On a scary note, I heard the groundhog's agent was still negotiating a new contract with the WEATHER CHANNEL up to this very morning! They barely came to an agreement. The groundhog and his agent finally settled today and Punx Phil
will perform tomorrow morning as scheduled. There was talk of a lock out by the weather Channel, too. It was pretty tense! But, all is well in Pennsylvania. whew!!
Close one... One of the drawbacks of being Punxsutawney Phil's agent is you have to live with the critter in the off season. Makes it tough to get a date as you might imagine...
Well, enough said. I am just relieved that in only a few hours, we will know the fate of our best made camping plans for the next six weeks. ahhhh..... bring it on, Phil...
Here's to an early spring, jerry |

| Here in southern NJ there's not a cloud in the sky! All I know is spring can't come quick enough for me! My first trip out will be in March! |

| Crystal clear sky here along the SE North Carolina coast this morning (but cold!) - Now, I'm eager to get on out there, but I just have to have some mild balmy weather to do so! Dale |

| I'm itching to get out there as well. Here in southern California the weather has been pretty pleasant...it's 73 degrees right now and we're thinking about a possible trip next week for a couple of nights. Brandy |

| Just a thought...hmmm... If the groundhog's agent has to live with him all year long, do you think they hang out at "UNDERGROUND" Nightclubs? Whaaa ha ha ha Ok, bring on the groundhog jokes.... |

Well, us folks here in PA. aren't laughing! since that durned rat saw his shadow, we've had nothing but cold and snow flurries, frizzen water lines, chilly cars until the first few miles, not enough snow to plow, but enough to make us mizerable! Now, we have groundhog #2, who sells lottery scratch-off tickets! His name is Gus, and he seems much better minded than dumb ol' Phil. Why, Gus even talks on TV! If the advertisers have their way, we'll have talking rats, cats, dogs, ponies, any type of animal you have or haven't seen on TV. Then they won't have to pay people to talk on the ads! Cheers! by: Rustyj |

Hey, Rustipup: That danged old groundhog was right! it has been snowing all day here today! Supposed to get 5-6 inches, most of the schools cancelled classes, and i'm sitting here in the house with a bad cold and cough! RATS!! I can't go out to use my snow-blowers! Oh, it will pass--just have to wait for it to run its course! On the other hand, i sure wish i lived out near you, so i could go up in the back country to see some of the sights! On our trip out west many moons ago, we only got a passing glimpse of the great sights! Then marriage to a nice girl who didn't want to see or drive in the Rocky mountains, or go out in the red rock country (Heck, she closed her eyes when we crossed the Miss. river!, or any other long or high bridge!) Gas was cheap then! So were motels, and restaurants, and car repairs! (The cretins hadn't refined their ways to rip ya off when ya needed help) Now, ya almost have to fly out there, rent a camper, or a truck, and go see the sights! but, thats too expensive for me, since we're subsisting on my Gov't. disability and 2 Social Securities! And, our house taxes are always going up, too. So, enjoy yer trips up into the canyons, etc! Wish i could go too! Rustyj |
