Salmon La Sac in Spring

Heading out to national forest area near Salmon La Sac just Northwest of Cle Elum, WA this weekend.

Has anyone gone out there this time of year? I spoke with someone at the ranger station and he told me there is still some snow up there.

I am wondering how severe it is to determine what gear I need to bring.

He said the elevation is at about 2300 feet. The forecast for Cle Elum this weekend is pretty nice, partly cloudy with day time highs in the 60's. Now the town is a bit lower in elevation therefore is much milder.

I need to know what the temps drop to at night time.

I was also thinking of going out to the Entiat river, but thats twice the distance from Seattle.

Spoke with their ranger and he said the road is open all the way up to Fox Creek Campground, which is about 27 miles up Entiat River road. But he said there is plenty of snow up there. I need some advice from someone whose camped out at either location around this time of year and need you're two cents.

Thanks,

RE: Salmon La Sac in Spring

Did he ever return, or are his bones rolling around in the stomach of a bear, or just lying out in the woods? Did his car get stuck in 20 ft. snow drifts, or roll down the mountain into a big creek, unseen by only the wild-life, to be found by Martians in the far distant future?
'Twould be nice if you told us, or even answered our questions!
Just curious: Rusty Jones
