 o
sleeping pads

Posted by geomom (My Page) on

Can someone please recommend a good sleeping pad for car camping and/or short-term backpacking? Something comfortable yet not the bulk of a rolled twin mattress. Insulation is not an issue but, gee, it would be nice not to roll around all night because of aching hips and shoulders.
Thanks!

Me again - also, does anyone have recommendations for places to buy quality camping gear at good prices?

for car camping I like the foam "egg crates" or a couple of thermarests. Campmor is a good supplier. rei, bass pro, etc also

I use the seat pads from outdoor chaise lounges. They are comfy for my 87 year old body, and i sleep well on them.
And, they don't go flat in the middle of the night!

Thermarest is certainly the Mercedes Benz of sleeping pads. They offer every level of comfort you could want from Dreamtime thick to Guidelite thin. And best of all, they don't rob comfort during your sleeping like cots or hollow-tubed air mattresses will.

My DH and I just bought Cadillac thermarest-type pads from LL Bean for an extended camping trip next summer. We tested them a couple of times this fall and they are superb. Spendy, but they also include the LL Bean guarantee, which I won't hesitate to use should it let me down.
