Tri-Pod Grill & Lanturn Hanger

Hello,

First off, who'd a thought you folks would have a camping forum? Not I! But glad you do have one.

If anyone has used one of these cheapy-looking, but neat idea Tri-Pods we are wondering what you all did to halt the grill from swaying while one takes the food off.

Thanks!
Happy Camping!

I would think, if ya pounded the legs into the ground before ya lit the fire, it might keep it from falling over, or swaying! Or, if the legs are hollow, some steel rods that will fit into the legs, will help to keep things from swaying.
We solved the problem by using a steel grill from a propane grill like the one you use for cooking steaks. Some nice flat rocks for it to set on help too. the best way is to cook on a gasoline stove! Nothing falls down!

The issue isn't really the unit itself swaying or tipping. It's the grill grate swinging as it is hanging from the middle point.

I figure we'll just raise the grill grate until it touches the three legs and is heald in place until the food on it is dealt with.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I know this replay is a few mounths late. But i have been camping for years with one of those tri-pods. The best thing to buy is a oven mitt, that way you can hold the grate with the mit and flip your burgers with the other hand. Also start your fire at least one hour before you start cooking this will help make sure you have a good
base fire. Theres nothing better than cooking on a wood
fire it will add so much more flavor to meal.(isn't that
camping?)
