What's YOUR first Fall campout? Do you pack it in for the season, or like Hippy, Keep On Kampin'?
We're off this sunday for three nights to the Sequoia National Forest. This camp/hunt typically is four or five days of hiking and camping around forest and mountain, creek and meadow for bear and/or mule deer. About half the party of 6 or so hunt and the others just hike and relax. Highs are 45-50 and lows are 25-30, altitude is 8000 feet and 50% chance of snow showers on Wednesday. Primitive USFS campground but LOADS of firewood. Can't wait to show off my Coleman telescoping lantern hanger to these yahoos! |

| We took down our tent for the season. We do alot of stuff with our 4 yr. old girl, so we can't expect her to freeze her but off with us. If my husband was more into it I am sure we could figure out a way to keep her comfy, but for now I will be glad he still wants to hike in chillier weather. What an adventure it would be to camp it the snow! |

There's a campground in Mt Rainier Natl Park that is open all year, IF you can make it across the road! I went there last March and it was snowing, but I got creeped out thinking of bears waking up from hibernation and Michael Myers type people. It was really hard to keep warm, I didn't bring enough firewood. This time, I'm going to this campground around later November, like Thanksgiving, and will be better prepared. I'm sure the bears will be off to their hibernation dens. |
