Cabin camping

I have recently started cabin camping this past summer. Due to severe back problems I had to give up regular camping, but after camping in a friends cabin this summer I am hooked. Check out this website for more info on cabin camping.

The link was useful, thank you. I will be retiring in 2 years and one of my plans is to travel through the U.S. visiting National Parks, etc., which I haven't had time to do during the 20 years I've worked in this country. I know that dogs are discouraged from entering many National Parks (except on leash in some areas). Do you know if these camping cabins allow folks with dogs to use them? I carry a collapsible crate which I can leave the dog in (if necessary) when I'm out on the trails. My dog is 3 years old, well trained, and weighs 100+ lbs. Any advice welcome.

Try this link (www.petfriendlytravel.com/?page=state_parks) It seems to have very much useful info on pets and state parks!!!

Many thanks for the link. That is a great relief to know that at least they can be taken in on leash. I had checked with another forum I belonged to (Virtual Tourist) and had been warned that dogs were regarded by many in the National Parks as "undesirables." My dog is an integral part of my life and I certainly don't want to be separated from her when I go on my "nature adventures." I appreciate your information.

I always take my big baby (also a 100 pound boy) with me whenever I camp. As long as you follow rules (clean up after) and the dog really is well trained you'll be fine. The tough part will be finding those cabins where you can take the dog. I plan my trips whether it be a cabin/cottage or remote wilderness tent camping around being able to take my dog. He's a rescue animal and would have an extremely difficult time in a kennel. I work in a campground during the summer season and my dog is my constant companion. On our time off he gets to run through the woods, swim, go boating, sniff out chipmunks... He lives the perfect dog life over the summer! Good luck!

If you are interested in going to Baja for cabin camping a good website we found is http://raysbajaresort.homestead.com/index.html
Not only does he have the 'cabanas' there is also a great restaurant and swimming pool on the property.
