| It looks like an Eastern carpenter bee, Xylocopa virginica. Look for holes about a centimeter in diameter in exposed woodwork. They don't eat wood, but they do damage it by boring nest holes. Hope this helps! Tucker |

| Maybe I should have posted on the Pests Forum. I've seen this bee hovering on my deck. The house is wood. I'm kind of worried, although I hate to kill anything, this one can do some damage, I think. Thanks for the ID. |

| Unless the bees become very numerous I would not worry about the small amount of damage they cause. They are not aggressive at all. and will only sting if vigorously molested. |
