Someone is getting lazy with the moth ID of this showy little moth, or they are just testing us! It's obviously the Tailless Mini-Luna Moth. Or try "wavy-lined emerald", a geometrid. There are two or three other regional emerald moths, it could be one of them. (This moth would measure 1/2" per wing, total wingspan 1" or slightly more) I wish there were emerald moths out here. The above moth is a nice specimen, complete fringe. Consider submitting some of your moth photos to Mr. Patterson of the Eastern Moth Photographer's Group.

LOL, you had me going there for a minute Larry Gene....Is a mini tailess luna kinda like a speetleroach? Day by day...That is an excellent picture of a beautiful moth.Great color and detail.

What a beautiful little moth! How about a red fronted emerald? The name doesn't make sense - there's no red on it that I can see - but maybe it's the right geometer -

The two images of are different moth species. The wavy-lined emerald is named for obvious reasons.

Miss Sherry - yours might be Nemoria mimosaria too. Usually, the red-fronted has a tinge of red somewhere on the forewing edge.

Let's get these emeralds cleared up. I think day_by_day is in Florida also; his moth is Synchlora frondaria "Southern emerald moth" rather than my potshot ID of Synchlora aerata "Wavy-lined emerald". Miss Sherry's is indeed N. mimosaria "White-fringed emerald moth". The Red-fronted emerald is N. rubrifrontaria. Link1: Group of live emerald moth species Link2: Spread specimen of red-fronted emerald The red is quite apparent.
