Help IDing a critter

The attached picture shows the critter in question. They're on the order of a few millimeters long and crawl around on the lit and warm walls of our apartment and often by the windows (maybe something to do with our swamp cooler leaking moisture? We live in the Southern California High Desert...). When you spray anything at them or make a sound near them as they are on the wall, they will fall off to the ground. They seem to be especially interested in the few weeds in our backyard - they do not crawl around out in the open. The contrast of the picture is a little off but they appear to have 6 legs and wings. They have also only recently shown up in the past few weeks with our much warmer weather.

I suspect it's a seasonal nuisance. In other words, annoying but not damaging. Gather tham with a vacuum.
