Wheelbug?

This wicked looking bug was climbing on one of my caterpillar cages this morning. I think it's a wheelbug, but it looks more like a saw than a wheel on its back! :)

What an interesting article!
I figured it would have loved to get into the cage, but then that's why I have the cages - to keep predators from killing my butterfly and sometimes moth caterpillars.
I politely moved him/her off the cage!

I liked the part about the "it's bite equals 10 hornet stings". I wonder who wanted to volunteer for that Fear Factor test.

lol! I vividly remember that our prof said something about 'double extra credit' if any of us entomology students had a wheel bug in our mandatory insect collection. One of my best friends had the opportunity to take him up on that, and I KNOW that he (my friend) will probably vouch for that assessment.

yeah. They stare at you with those beady eyes too. I have tons of them in my yard that I would be happy to send you MissSherry!
