Never seen this one before and it doesn't appear to be in my book. Size was somewhere aroud 1/4" - 3/8". Found in the mint bed, although I don't believe it was eating the plants at all.

Ah, I'll take a stab with a Twice-stabbed Stink Bug (Cosmopepla lintneriana).

Most excellent, thank you! I'm tempted to squash it, but apparently it also likes ragweed. Toss up :)

"Like all true bugs, this insect is a plant feeder, piercing the plant tissue with its needle like mouthparts. It injects enzymes which break down plant tissues and cell walls, and then vacuums up the resulting nutritional slurry. Because it feeds on a wide variety of plants, including milk thistle, echinacea, asparagus, oats, mint and goldenrod,
it is found in a wide variety of habitats. They are active from May until September here in the American midwest."

Stab it a third time.

That statement about ALL true bugs is not correct. There are plenty that are predatory.

Get em, rhizo. I was just using the quote to point out the mint connection.
