Paper Wasp Nest in the Garden

| I have a small garden here in Phoenix, Az. Today I discovered a paper wasp nest hanging from a tomato cage. I know wasps are beneficial pests, but I've been stung before and I would prefer not to be stung again. Plus I need to be able to safely pick tomatoes and other garden yummies.
So, any advice on getting rid of the nest? It is small maybe a square inch. I'm nervous because I know they are more agressive in the heat, which we have a lot of here. |

| When I get a nest in an undesirable area like that, I put the sprayer end on the hose, stand back far enough so I don't get stung, and spray the dickens out of it until it disolves. I do this near evening when the wasps have settled down a bit. The cold water from the hose also slows them way down. I am terrified of wasps and hornets, but I've been able to do this safely and have never been stung while spraying them down. |
