Dig This Big Dude!

I put the rind of a piece of watermelon in my garden, since some butterflies are supposed to like it. The only butterfly that visited is a question mark, but it did stay quite a while. Mostly, it's just drawn bugs -

I didn't measure it, but this click beetle is about 2" or more long - look at those eyes!

Don't those eye spots make them look amazing?? Insects are awesome in the way so many of them use this ploy to decieve predators!

Yes, rhizo, many insects have "eyes" as part of their confusing outfit - I love those spicebush swallowtails!
