what kind of ant is this?!

i have never seen it before, it is bright red, and it is twice size of the normal dark ants around my home.

should i be worried?

oh my god, it is possible that it is a fire ant.

yes, i stomped on it before i took the picture, otherwise, it certainly won't stay in the same spot and wait for me to get the camera ready.

i have never seen this kind of ant at where i live. maybe it was blown by the wind from a passing by truck or something. i haven't seen another one ever since. hopefully, never.

Fire ants aren't bright red, and they aren't all that big. Their abdomens are clearly darker than the rest of their bodies.

Just by the look of it I'd say a Harvester ant.
