| BWS are very common in some locations. Lucky for us they are so reclusive and non-agressive. Good 'housekeeping' around the outside of your home will help prevent a large population from occurring. I also inspect underneath the patio furniture and picnic table on a REGULAR basis. Like every time I go outside to relax, lol. Learn to recognize their messy little webs so that you can sweep or vacuum them away. |

| Often, just sweeping the webs away isn't enough, because the spiders retreat to cracks and crevices beyond the reaches of the web itself. They often shelter in these crevices during the day. When I find a suspected BW web, I make a point of returning with a flashlight after dark when the spider is readily visible. Then I slap them with a broom, or my shoe, or whatever else works to quickly wipe them out. |
