Wierd Bug

This thing landed on the chair and watched me. It flies, has a hard shell like a lady bug with wings under, and a head like bee with long black antennae. About the size of a large man's thumb. We live in norther DFW, TX. Anyone?

Looks like a cottonwood borer.

cindy c has it right - cottonwood borer. Very destructive little critter.
