Mantis eggs

I found a mantis eggcase in April. When should I expect it to hatch out in NE Ohio? My hollyhocks are already starting to get skeletonized and I need the mantises!!
I don't want to use insecticides, but every year my hollyhocks get the leaves eaten completely off so they are just stems and flowers. |

| I feel sure that you have the hollyhock sawfly, the most infamous skeletonizer of this plant. I SURE as heck wouldn't rely on mantids to help you with this! Mix up a small batch of insecticidal soap and get to work on those darned things. You can also hand pick them and toss them into the lawn for the birds to eat. |

Rhizo, Thanks! That is exactly what they are. I guess I better get some insecticides soon; those little suckers work fast! |
