Wasp nest or Termite mound

I found two of these little mounds in my backyard (100 feet apart). The top was difficult to remove but when it did come off the hole was nearly perfectly round and I could see right through it. The hole continued into the ground but I never saw anything going in and out. After removing, I noticed it again about 2 weeks later. I live in phoenix, az.

RE: Wasp nest or Termite mound

Looks more like an earthworm hole than anything else. But could also be mole cricket holes.

Those are my two guesses, anyway. ;-)
