| I have been trying to read about butterflies. i thought that they all migrated in the winter, now I'm not sure. Do only monarchs migrate south? |

| Monarchs are the most famous of the migratory species, and by far the most spectacular due to the fact that so many millions head to just a few locations. However, other species within that family (Nymphalidae) are also migratory. Favorites such as our Painted Ladies, Large Whites, Red Admiral, and many more make mass migrations. Do a search on 'Migratory Butterflies' for some good information. You might also want to head over to the Butterfly Gardening Forum. There are lots of extremely knowledgeable folks over there; much more so than I. |
