Yellow fuzzy catapillar with antenna?

Posted by onewheeler (My Page) on

I had such good luck here with the cicada that I thought I would try another new to me bug/insect picture. I think I have seen this catepillar before but it really caught my attention last night. It is on a rose leaf. Am wondering what it will do to the plants, is it a keeper? I checked this am and he/she/it is still there and no holes in the leaves so I am assuming it is just getting ready to morph into something else, but what?

Thanks in advance for all your knowledge.

Goin' with Banded Tussock Moth Caterpillar - Halysidota tessellaris. Neat close up.

Don't 'pet' this little guy. He's one of the caterpillars with urticating or stinging hairs. Can be quite irritating for to some people.

This caterpillar turns into a pretty little moth.

Here is a link that might be useful: Banded tussock moth
