| I was just cleaning up the yard and then I saw this strange caterpillar--it sort of scared me. It's around 2 inches long and as thick as my finger, and covered with black spikes. Does anyone know what is it? I'm really curious!

Hi there, I have the same caterpillar in one of my crittercages right now, they will overwinter as a caterpillar and spin their cocoon in springtime.. It is in the Tiger Moth family: either Giant Leopard Moth or Virgin Tiger Moth.. Both feed on low growing plants, like Tickseed, Dandelion, Honeysuckle, etc.. The adult moth is very pretty.
