Help identify type of bug

It was found on my carpet yesterday and we cleaned it up and another mound formed when we woke up today. The last time we swept it up we saw several little white bugs in it ...they don't look like they have wings but it's hard to tell. They build little towers straight up...and it looks like they make them out of little tiny wood pieces... but it is always in the same place in the middle of the carpet. We don't know what to make of it but we were wondering if they might be termites. They are about one to two inches high...the little towers.

my guess is termites of some kind...call the exterminator. Termites in Africa build huge mounds; but here they seem to prefer eating our homes instead!

This is indeed a termite - call an exterminator before the damage they do becomes irreversible.
