Bright green sucking (?) bug?

Just noticed on my fig tree a lot of these bright green (aphid-color) bugs, latched onto stems. They're kind of sail-shaped, about 1cm long. Sorry you can't really see any detail in the photo (apparently the iPhone can't do close-up focus) but maybe the shape and description is sufficient to identify?

Here is a link that might be useful: mystery bug

Turns out that this guy hops/flies short distances quite adroitly, almost as if a leafhopper. But it's much bigger than any leafhopper I've ever seen before. ????

Look up Flatid Planthopper and see if that's a match for you.

RE: Bright green sucking (?) bug?

Yep, that Flatid Planthopper seems like a good match ... the only mismatch is that it's described as a pest of Florida and South Carolina that is not endemic to California. Perhaps that's no longer accurate, or perhaps what I've got is a closely related species that IS endemic to California.

Anyhoo, think I should do anything with/to these guys?
