These two were visiting my back yard ( I'm in LA) at the same time the fires on Catalina island were going. About 2 years ago. Don't know if thats relevant but I haven't seen anything like it before or since then. I'm pretty sure one is adolecent. I think theyre very striking and strangely beautiful but havent got a clue as to what they are called.Any help is greatly appriciated.

Young starlings are beautiful! I love the irridescence of their feathers and the colors of the spots. Ours usually have yellow bills and pink feet as well, so they are very colorful. They remind me of Herend figurines.

Here's a photo of a few of them on one of our feeders.

Here is a link that might be useful: Young Starlings

Yes Herend figurines , what a great observation . Now i want to Know witch came first:), the figurines or the birds.
I've seen the black /irridescencent ones with the bright yellow beaks but only in these flock of 10 to 20 . They would land in my yard quikly ridding it of bugs(i assume) then move on to my neighbors and on down the block . But i never would have put two & two together because they look so different from the young ones so thanks again for your help.
