can someone help me in my back yard i saw some strange looking animal it has a tail of a rat but the rest lloks like a beaver, can some one give me answer.

Could be a muskrat. It would be very helpful if we knew what part of the world you are from, and in what kind of environment you saw this animal.

What about a possum? Those guys definitely have a rat-like tail.

Possum? Too pale and nose is too pointy to look like a beaver.

You didn't say what part of the country you are in but if you are near a swampy area in one of the Southern states it could also be a nutria.

I would agree - most likely a Muskrat (Ondatra zibethecius)....however if you're farther south (Louisiana, Texas..they're even in Arkansas and some states on the east coast) it could be a Nutria (much larger definitely more beaver-like)
