there is this nice sized woodpecker that comes down to my feeders every so often and i want to get a photo

i have a remote so that i can sit inside and watch for him while i leave the camera outside on a tripod

You will need a plug-in power source for the camera. The battery charge may not last long enough for you to get your shot. I presume that the camera will be turned on during the wait period. Very cold batteries may loose enough capacity.
