| sophiemae, I'm rally glad you're experimenting and this image does look some better exposure-wise but it's still "not there". It looks to me to be about one and a half or two stops overexposed. Can you roughly replicate the subject again under approsimately the same lighting conditions? If so take a look at what your exposure was for this image and underexpose manually by two stops. If you can keep the bird framed try one shot at one stop underexposed. I think between a shot at one stop under and another at two stops under you'll end up with something very nice. It's very hard to tell on computer screens exactly what needs to be done but I wouldn't be surprised if you had to underexpose by as much as 2.5 to 3 stops in order to get the white feathers just right. Of course, with that much underexposure the dark areas of the bird's face will start losing detail. Again, just try for a happy medium and let's have a look at the results when you get them. |
