Wondering if Is this a Red-tailed hawk? have pics

| I saw this HUGE hawk today on perched on pole on side of road, I saw a red tailed hawk on same road(with a squirrel in his talons, that was already dead thank goodness) just a few blocks down from where this one was today, so I was thinking it maybe the same one, but idk, and I didn't get to see the tail so was hoping someone could tell me if this was a red tailed hawk without being able to see the tail in pics, and pics are not great, I get shaky when I see cool stuff, thanks.

| Yes, it is a Red-tailed. The combination of dark head, pale breast, and dark belly band are the ID points. -O- |

| Thanks, I thought so, but I am not that familiar with identifying hawks, although I seem to be seeing them more and more lately! This one was back today, perched in same spot, screaming. I have read that the females are larger than the males, so I am guessing this one must be a female because it is HUGE, larger than the other ones I have seen, which I have only seen two in person. Thanks again!!! |
