| We've had the honor of watching Cooper's take up residence here on my property in a cluster of white pines. Hunting activity seemed to increase recently. The pair took over the whole area and it was awesome.
Our garage seems to have a field mouse issue so I've been catching/releasing and have bird feeders everywhere. There is plenty of food.
2 days ago (Saturday) we were working outside and I noticed I didn't see/hear the hawks. Husband said he heard something twice. Today I notice lots of birds/singing and I sat out for a long while. Zero Cooper's. Looking at the nest with binocs, I see no heads sticking out like I normally do. No one near the nest.
There was nothing out of the ordinary here as far as activity/disruption.
I'm actually nauseous over this. Does anyone have an idea as to what happened and how common this is? They were SO locked in here. But even if she didn't lay the eggs yet, I can't imagine they'd stray far. Is there any reason to retain a bit of hope? Thank you. |
