Recently saw two circling one was more or less brown all over , the other was brown with bright yellow wing tips (about 6 inches) and had a bright yellow tail, I haven't been able to find it in any book, sorry I did not have a camera. Thanks.

Hello, I see that you're a new member here and didn't want you to feel ignored. Unfortunately your description isn't ringing any bells with a 'bright yellow tail' on a hawk. Red-tailed Hawk is the closest I can think of, adults have an orange tail; perhaps lighting could make one of the paler races appear yellow tailed? Just guessing here. -O-

A bright yellow tail is unusual. It could be like Orrin suggested, bright sunlight could have made the tail look yellow. Richard
