| Wayne I think it may in fact be a mojave rattlesnake. It would help if we had a location though. |

Sorry, it was actually taken in Utah. In some park that starts with a "Z". Does this help? I'm an East Coast person so I know nothing about western snakes. I actually didn't even take the picture, a friend of mine took it while she was hiking. |

| Zion National Park would further suggest/confirm Great Basin Rattlesnake. Mojaves can be found in the extreme SW corner of Utah not that far from Zion and in much of Southern Nevada but Great Basin Rattlesnakes are the only rattlesnake species known to the park. Gorgeous snake! |
