Please ID this snake

Once again, I come to the real experts to ask you to please identify this snake. A lady found it in her house. She thinks it is a rattlesnake because it vibrated it's tail when cornered. (Yes, I know that other snakes than rattlers do that...but, who is going to believe me?) :))

I think it is a rat snake, or maybe some kind of king snake.
I don't know exactly what it is, but I know it isn't a rattlesnake. So guys...please take a look, and tell me what kind of snake it really is. Thanks so much.

You id'ed it correctly as a rat snake. Great job! It is a juvenile Black Rat Snake.

It's a juvenile Western foxsnake (Pantherophis vulpina).
