Speckled King Snake and a Baby Three-Toed Box Turtle?

My dogs seem to be the ones that always find the snakes! This time, it was coiled up under an oak tree - when I saw Barney stretching over, then jumping back, I figured it was a snake and sure enough, it was! I went in the house and got my camera, and by the time I got back, it had moved away from the base of the tree. This was NOT an aggressive snake - it was hard to get a picture, because it kept crawling away from me.
This is a speckled king snake, isn't it?

Since we've been having regular rain again - YAY! - the box turtles have been showing up. I live right on the line between the range for Gulf Coast box turtles and three-toed box turtles. The majority of them that I see are GC types, and I've been seeing a lot of babies lately. This baby that I saw a few weeks ago must be the three-toed type?

Wow, MissSherry, that is a beautiful snake. About how long was it? I would love to see one of those some day.

I think you're right on the indentification of the kingsnake.

Funny meeting you here bigthicketgardens! :) I love butterflies the best, but I still enjoy all of nature.
The snake wasn't real long, probably about 3' - 4 long - I've seen these before, some that were bigger, and some that were smaller and blue! speckled with white. I feel sure that this is a speckled king snake, but I'm not sure at all about the little turtle. I've never seen a box turtle with red on its back like this baby, and it doesn't really match any of the pictures in my field guide - maybe I need more than one field guide.
I'm happy to post pictures, Mary Ann - there's nothing I like better than making pictures of the wildlife I love so!

The little box turtle showed up again today in my garden after yet another shower. I remembered a box turtle that hung around my tomato plants in Gulfport and ate the bad tomatoes that I threw on the ground. I had just thrown one on the ground, it wasn't READ bad, so I broke it open and put it within about a foot of the turtle. I went in and got my camera - I've named this one Red -
